San Vicente de Paúl Children’s Home

The San Vicente de Paúl Children’s Home is a non-profit organization founded on February 23, 1876, and managed by the Company of the Daughters of Charity. It is located in the La Recoleta neighborhood, in the canton of Quito, Pichincha province. Its facilities are designed to provide high-quality care for children and adolescents, considering their developmental stage and individual needs.

The Home operates under the institutional care modality, as established in the Code of Childhood and Adolescence, as a temporary judicial protection measure. This means that the institution is organized and adapted to the specific circumstances of each case. Its services are structured into three sub-modalities: legal clarification (adoption), family reintegration (nuclear or extended), and promotion of autonomy. In this way, the principle of temporality is upheld and the right of children and adolescents to grow up in a family environment is guaranteed.

To ensure the protection of the rights of the 72 children and adolescents currently living in the Home, the staff works full-time. However, the support of volunteers is equally essential: their consistent and selfless contribution of time and knowledge strengthens the care provided to this vulnerable population.
